Europes Most Powerful Monaro!

As featured in Total Vauxhall Magazine - see the feature here.

That's right, 930bhp and 950 ft/lb of torque!!!! UPDATE - Its been tickled a little and is now a mere 1017 BHP!!

All in a truly street-able car!

The customers requirements were clear from the start, if a little at odds with each other. The 2 main requirements were, "to do 200mph at Bruntingthorpe" and for "the wife to be able to drive to tescos".

Undaunted, the project commenced.

Look at this video of the dyno run

In brief the main modifications are as follows::

Engine

7 litre engine with full forged internals and custom grind camshaft.
Twin GT37 Turbos
Air to air intercooling
Custom 4 inch twin air intake system
Full tubular custom exhaust manifold with 3.5 inch dump pipes.
Twin tial wastegates
Full engine oil cooler system
Electronic boost controller
Full Wortec volume switchable twin 3.5 inch exhaust.

Chassis/driveline

McCloud twin plate clutch
Harrop/Chevy 12 bolt diff
Harrop Heavy duty driveshafts
Additional welding in rear of car to increase stiffness

Fuel System

Full custom fuel tank assembly.
Separate swirl pot with twin Bosch 044 pumps and regulator

Suspension

Wortec coilover kit
Monkfish Road Response Pac

As well as the 2 main requirements there was to be no "aftermarket" looking stuff inside the car. That also meant a roll cage was out!

So, with the car completed, what is it like to drive? Start the car, and if the exhaust is in quiet mode,

then its not really any different from standard. Totally smooth, stock style idle. Clutch take up is smooth and progressive. No racing clutches here! On the road off boost, this thing is still quick, after all, before the turbos turn, it's the best part of 600bhp.
Mash the throttle though and this car really flies! Not wild and lairy and uncontrollable like some high horsepower cars, just a serious surge of power, thanks to the huge amount of torque. I have never driven anything quite like it!

Is the customer happy - you bet!

***UPDATE***

5000 Miles on - the car has come back for a service - nothing has gone wrong and it performs like it should!

*** Further update***

Now with over 11,000 miles on it, the car has come back for a check over and a new clutch. The clutch is required as a result of boost being turned up another 2 psi to 15psi. This proved too much for the clutch, so a further uprated clutch was fitted. Gearbox oil was drained again, and despite it still being the original unmodified gearbox, the oil was spotlessly clean.

Now just awaiting another V-max event to see if the 200mph barrier can be cracked.
