We had a VXR500 arrive with a ticking noise. Eventually this was traced to a damaged cam, caused, bizzarely, by a bolt that had become wedged between the block and cam.
However, this meant it needed a new cam.
VXR500's were supercharged, but not fitted with intercoolers. Whilst this is fine as delivered, the scope for increasing power is limited as an increase in boost will cause air temps to soar.
Intercooler kits are very expensive for these superchargers, so on this occasion we opted to fit one of our "Magic" cams.
This has the benefit of significantly dropping air temps as well as improving engine breathing.
The result was better than we could of hoped for. A useful chunk of extra power, no more drop off in power above 5000 rpm and a full 20 degrees less air intake temps.
All for less money than an intercooler upgrade!!!
For those with a non intercooled Harrop supercharger, this is the answer to the need for more power.
